| Band form
An early or late trophozoite form that is very elongated and extends close to, or entirely across, the diameter of the erythocyte. The form is frequent in P.malariae and P.knowlesi infections and can support the identification of either species - although other features must fit. Rarely, forms resembling a band may occur in other species. Band forms in P.malariae
